February Artist: Photographer James Caulfield (Ongoing Event)

Event Type: Art Gallery
Date: 2/2/2014 - 3/2/2014
Description:
Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Home and Studio by seeing “Frank Lloyd Wright – The Oak Park Years” Exhibit in the Oak Park Library Gallery in February. A reception for the artist will be Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

In the past several years, photographer James Caulfield, in collaboration with architectural writer Patrick F. Cannon, has produced four books with contemporary images of the exteriors and interiors of the buildings of Frank Lloyd Wright and other Chicago-area architects.

From these four books, Caulfield has selected some of his favorite Frank Lloyd Wright building images for the the Oak Park Public Library exhibit. The earliest building featured is the 1892 Charnley-Persky House in Chicago, which Wright claimed to have designed while with Adler & Sullivan, and the latest, the Harry Adams house of 1913 in Oak Park. Between them, the exhibit features such landmarks as the William Winslow, Ward Willits, Arthur Heurtley, and Frederick Robie houses, and Wright’s great masterpiece, Unity Temple.
