Artist Reception: Photographer James Caulfield

Event Type: Art Gallery
Date: 2/4/2014
Start Time: 6:00 PM
End Time: 8:00 PM
Meet James Caulfield, photographer for the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust for many years, at a reception in his honor. From Feb. 2 - March 2, Caulfield's photographs will be in an exhibit titled "Frank Lloyd Wright -- The Oak Park Years. Photographs by James Caulfield." The reception is free and open to the public.

In the past several years, photographer James Caulfield, in collaboration with architectural writer Patrick F. Cannon, has produced four books with contemporary images of the exteriors and interiors of the buildings of Frank Lloyd Wright and other Chicago-area architects.

From these books, Caulfield has selected some of his favorite images for the Oak Park Public Library exhibit. The earliest building featured is the 1892 Charnley-Persky House in Chicago, which Wright claimed to have designed while with Adler & Sullivan, and the latest, the Harry Adams house of 1913 in Oak Park. Between them, the exhibit features such landmarks as the William Winslow, Ward Willits, Arthur Heurtley, and Frederick Robie houses, and Wright’s great masterpiece, Unity Temple.
