 Meet Janis Johnston, an Oak Park family psychologist, who will share ideas from her book,"It Takes a Child to Raise a Parent: Stories of Evolving Child and Parent Development." Learn a step-by-step path to enhanced parenting. Not only can children benefit from this approach, but parents can find renewal in their own potential along the journey.

Johnston Ed.D, earned her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology and Master's Degree in School Psychology from Boston University. For her achievements and community service, Johnston received the honorary degree, Doctor of Humane Letters, from Manchester University (formerly Manchester College) in 2011. She also received the 2011 Founder's Award in appreciation for her dedication to the mission of Parenthesis Family Center in Oak Park. Sarah's Inn, a domestic violence shelter and education center in Oak Park, earlier honored Johnston with a Community Spirit Award for her support of teen dating violence prevention/intervention progamming for local high school students.
