One of the most revered directors of his era, Elia Kazan (1909-2003) also remains one of the most controversial. Kazan launched a revolution in realistic screen acting at mid-century. But when he provided names to the McCarthy era investigators in the early 1950s, damaging the careers of his peers, many regarded him as an unforgivable traitor for the rest of his life.

"East of Eden features James Dean in a Cain and Abel story based on a John Steinbeck novel about brothers competing for their father's love. 115 minutes
