Films of Elia Kazan: "A Face in the Crowd"

Event Type: Film Screening
Date: 10/29/2014
Start Time: 9:30 AM
End Time: 12:30 PM
Description:
One of the most revered directors of his era, Elia Kazan (1909-2003) also remains one of the most controversial. Kazan launched a revolution in realistic screen acting at mid-century. But when he provided names to the McCarthy era investigators in the early 1950s, damaging the careers of his peers, many regarded him as an unforgivable traitor for the rest of his life.

"A Face in the Crowd" (1957) features Andy Griffith, as a rural drifter who becomes an overnight media sensation, but also grows drunk with fame and power. 126 minutes.
